UB40 Featuring Ali Campbell, Astro & Mickey Virtue plus support Lemar
In 2015 the same original UB40 trio thrilled music fans with their live show at the packed out Leeds city centre arena. They return, following unprecedented public demand, on Saturday, August 5. The group will perform an all-the-hits concert featuring the biggest of their incredible 50 chart singles. And for this one-off spectacular, they are joined by fellow chart topper Lemar for a lavish night of live music to remember.
UB40 topped the charts on many occasions, scoring million sellers with songs like Red Red Wine, I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You, I Got You Babe, Kingston Town, King, Don’t Break My Heart, Food For Thought and One in Ten.
The show will be presented in the specially-created outdoor arena on the square, complete with licensed bars and concessions. The trio will be dipping into a catalogue of hit singles which also includes Breakfast in Bed, Sing Our Own Song, Rat in Mi Kitchen, Cherry Oh Baby, Homely Girl, Many Rivers to Cross, I Think It’s Going to Rain Today, If it Happens Again, The Earth Dies Screaming, Please Don’t Make Me Cry and Kiss and Say Goodbye.
Since reuniting three years ago, founding members Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue have been packing out arenas on world tours that have included North and South America, Nigeria, South Africa, Dubai, Europe and Papua New Guinea. Sell-out shows in the UK have included London’s O2 Arena, the Manchester Apollo and the Barclaycard Arena in their native Birmingham.
Joining them at Millennium Square will be Lemar, himself no stranger to sell-out concert tours. The talented singer – who rose to fame on TV’s Fame Academy – will perform his own top ten hits including If There’s Any Justice, Dance (With U), It’s Not That Easy, 50/50, Lullaby, The Way it Goes and Time to Grow.
